U Sew Academy
U Sew Academy is a private sewing institution that offers short, practical, and hands-on courses suitable for hobbyists and those interested in starting their own business. It’s important to note that our courses are not accredited and do not adhere to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Additionally, the Academy is not registered with the Department of Higher Education. Nevertheless, our short courses have been specifically designed by industry experts to provide you with focused knowledge and understanding. Upon completing the courses, students will receive a certificate of completion, provided they attend all classes.
Course Schedule
Our courses are scheduled from Mondays to Fridays, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Class Information
Each class has a maximum of 10 students to ensure that learners receive individual attention and support, thanks to smaller class sizes and high teacher contact times. Sewing machines are provided during classes, but students are encouraged to have their own machines for home practice. We offer sewing machines for sale at U Sew Academy, which can be purchased onsite.
First Class Preparation
For your first class, bring enthusiasm and dedication to learn. Each course includes a free equipment kit, supplied by U Sew Academy.
Enrollment Process
To enroll in our courses, please fill out the enrollment form. After completing the payment, email the enrollment form and proof of payment to [email protected] .
Full-Time Courses
Currently, we only offer part-time courses. Our courses are open to individuals aged 16 and above, with a passion for fashion. No prior experience is required.
Fees Refund Policy
Please note that the fees are non-refundable. (Refer to Terms & Conditions for details.)
Registration Fee
There is no registration fee; however, a 50% deposit is required to secure your spot in class.
Payment Requirements
Full payment of the course fees must be made in advance before the start date. Students are liable for the total course or workshop fee, regardless of whether they complete the course. The person responsible for payment will be held accountable for any expenses related to repairing damage caused to our property by the student.
Learning Timeline
The time it takes to learn sewing varies from person to person. As a guideline, plan to spend a few hours per week not only to learn basic sewing techniques but also to practice what you’ve learned. Depending on how quickly you pick up the skills, it could take anywhere from one to two weeks or a couple of weeks to learn basic sewing.
